Taste of the past in Derbyshire

Enjoy a taste of history at a Tudor Cookery Weekend in Bakewell

Boar's head or baked peacock pie anyone? The Tudor Group, a historical interpretation society, and Ruth Goodman, presenter of the BBC programme Victorian Farm, will prepare an authentic Tudor meal at Haddon Hall, a 12th-century medieval manor house in Bakewell, Derbyshire, on 25 and 26 April. The Tudor Cookery Weekend will lay on a feast in the banqueting hall, which has been used for dining and entertaining since the 15th century of such time-lost delicacies as marzipan marchpane cake and umble pie, made with offal.
