Under £100

There's a Swingin' Sixties family weekend 12/13 April at the Harcourt Sands Holiday Park, Ryde, Isle of Wight with bands Ivy League and Beatles UK. The cost is £90 adults (children from £38) which includes cross-Solent ferry crossing for car and passengers from Portsmouth or Lymington, two nights accommodation with breakfast, evening meals and entertainment. Under £200

Satellite television is available in the four bedroomed (ten bedded) Villa Mas Lou Pinede in St Raphael just along the coast from Cannes. So for £199 for a week in June ten footie fans can celebrate (or drown their sorrows) with a barbecue round the private pool. The price includes Eurotunnel for two vehicles and passengers. The three-day Brussels Book Fair for professional and amateur collectors takes place from 26-28 April and Eurotours (0870 380 7380) has two nights' B&B at the central three-star Hotel Ustel, including return Eurostar, for £147.

Direct Line Holidays (020 8239 3399) has self-catering accommodation at the Panorama Studios in the tiny resort of Ammoudia, set in a beautiful bay on mainland Greece. Departing Gatwick on 4 May, one week is £179 and two £199. Later weeks in May rise to £219 for one and £259 for two. The nearest town is just over seven miles away but restaurants, shops and the beach are only a few hundred yards away.

Under £300

Learn Spanish in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife starting 15 or 29 April with don Quijote UK (020 8786 8081). A one week intensive course is £146 providing 20 hours of tuition. Two weeks (40 hours) is £239. Accommodation is available in student flats starting at £73 for a shared double room (£88 single) for one week and £121 (£151) for two weeks. There are plenty of cheap flights to Tenerife from all UK airports which you need to book yourself. The company also operates courses in several Spanish mainland cities.

St Petersburg for the day! Leaving Gatwick or Manchester on 19 April at 6am you arrive at midday and depart after midnight to arrive back at 12.45am. The cost is £219, plus £45 for a visa. Under £400

Don't miss International Gaudi Year in Barcelona, and the major exhibition which marks the 150th anniversary of his birth, with two nights B&B at the four star Alexander Hotel departing 31 May. The all in price of £369 includes Go flights from Stansted and is bookable with ShortBreaks by Air (020 8289 8800).

Under £500

Seven nights in Orlando with Virgin Holidays (0871 222 0305) includes direct flights from Gatwick, accommodation at the two star Travelodge International on a room only basis and car hire or transfers for £406. The child price (age 2-11) is £226 and teens (12-15) £326, valid for departures during April.

Farmhouse tourism (staying in cabins on a farm) is big in Slovenia and Pristava Lepena in the Primorska region, which stretches down the Italian border to the Adriatic, is a stunning area where you can ride a pure-bred Lipizzaner horse or fish for Soca trout. Departing Thursdays in April, £422 pays for four nights' half-board, flights to Ljubljana and car hire. Slovenija Pursuits (0870 2200201).

Under £600

For £550 you can bob about in the Isle of Ischia's thermal pools for a week with Crystal Premier Italy (0208 939 5454) staying at the four star Hotel Excelsior with its own health, beauty centre and spa. This covers half board accommodation, flights from Heathrow to Naples and transfers. Departures are between 1 April and 1 May.

For £599 you can have four nights' B&B at Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel in Memphis with America Direct (0870 889 0827) in May and June. Each room has a free Elvis movie channel. Flights are from Gatwick and guests get free tickets to Graceland. Book by 30 April.

Over £1,000

Seven nights' safari on the Selinda Reserve in Botswana, plus two overnight flights, is available through Bill Adams Safaris (01787 228494) during April and May for £1,735 (a saving of £650). The accommodation is in luxury tented lodges or walking-trail camps, and includes flights to Johannesburg, flights to Botswana, transfers, food and drink, game viewing (walks and drives), laundry, concession fees and insurance.
