From the ancient to the modern, buildings have defined cultures and populations. March’s theme is architecture to challenge you to capture the art, life and history that the world’s buildings contain.

The winning image will be mounted and exhibited in the end-of-year gallery at King’s Place London. Once the exhibition is finished digital printers Point 101 will send you a copy of your shot to place with pride on your own wall. The winner will be entered for the overall prize, an incredible 11-night trip to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, courtesy ofTourism KwaZulu Natal and specialist tour operator Africa and Beyond. You can read more about the prizes here.

Just a heads up: you must be a UK resident to enter and we need you to upload the highest possible resolution of your shot via GuardianWitness. You’ll also need to provide a caption of up to 80 words on where it was taken, what’s happening in the shot, what inspired you to take it, any technical details if pertinent. You must also supply your full name with the caption.

The closing date for entries is 24 March 2014.
