For some, going on holiday is about more than reading a good book on the beach. It is a chance to explore different environments while stretching yourself physically and fully interacting with your surroundings. And by venturing into the wilds there is a higher likelihood of experiencing unique, personal moments.

Whether you’re into diving, walking, running, cycling, wild swimming, climbing … please share your best tips from anywhere in the world. We’d like to hear about trips organised by a tour operator, local company or independently.

Great routes, places to stay, unique experiences, landscapes and discoveries can all feature. But please give exact details of locations, prices and websites where possible and try to keep your tip to 100 words.

The best tips will appear on the Guardian Travel website and may also appear in print in Guardian Travel. The winner, chosen by Tom Hall of Lonely Planet, will receive a £200 hotel voucher from UK.hotels.com.

Closes Tuesday 29 January 2019, 10am GMT
