My favourite place in Rio de Janeiro is a club called 00 (Zero Zero) in Gávea, one of the best neighbourhoods in town. A unique design, a powerful sound system and an incredible vibe, make this venue legendary. Trends come and go, but after 14 years, 00 is still buzzing seven nights a week.
The first time I went there, in 2002, I was impressed by the club’s concept and how well-dressed people were, quite uncommon in Rio, a beach town. The music is different every night, from old-school hip-hop to the latest techno tracks from Berlin and Brazilian classics. This eclectic mix attracts a distinct crowd each night, making everything more interesting.
The large open area on the ground floor is especially appealing during Rio’s hot summer. 00 also has a restaurant serving great food for those who want to refuel before dancing all night long. I always order the Thai shrimp and the special risotto of the day – they never disappoint. This is definitely, a great little place (OK, maybe it’s not that little).
