Psychic Detective Weekend, Abercraf, Powys, 9-11 September
Spend a couple of days on a Brecon Beacons retreat with psychic Angela McGhee, who works with the police on murder and missing-person cases. Talks and "whodunnit exercises" will help unleash your own inner psychic (if you have one) and may lead to a spiritual awakening as well. Angela "looks forward to meeting all those who are destined to be there", it says on the website, so do check if you are.
• Book the weekend through Hafan Y Coed (01639 730985, hafanycoed.com) from £170pp full-board
Weird 11, Swindon, Wiltshire, 17-18 September
"The truth is out there." We know – we just didn't expect it to be found in Swindon. For two days in September, Wiltshire is awash with conspiracy theorists, Wookies and skywatchers, as a motley band descend on the town's Meca centre for talks on extraterrestrial encounters, ancient technologies and cryptozoology at Weird 11. The ley line from nearby Stonehenge should bring more power to the attendees' inevitable light-sabres, and draw out the best for the closing fancy-dress competition – first prize, hopefully, an intergalactic voyage. If talks called "Elves, Aliens, Angels and Ayahuasca" or "Lizards and Lies" float your boat, this is for you.
• Weekend tickets to Weird 11 (weirdwiltshire.co.uk) cost £40, day tickets £25
Pagan spiritual enlightenment in Wales
Tagged as a "contemplative tour in Wales" (with a bit of Wiltshire too), this six-day trip melds stone circles, burial chambers and medieval castles with a personal spiritual journey. Guided by a pagan minister, you'll find inspiration for your contemplation from Avebury to Carmarthenshire (birthplace of Merlin) and among the woods, cliffs and beaches of the Pembrokeshire coast. But the tour comes with a warning: "If you're a cynic of any sort then no, this really isn't one for you." No fixed dates – grab some friends and set your own.
• Tourdust (020-3291 2907, tourdust.com) offers this six-night tour from £780pp B&B
Dowsing for beginners, Worcestershire, 22-23 October
Dowsing rods provide one of the more intriguing mysteries of our time – they shouldn't work, but they often do. On this weekend course, Susie Shaw from the British Society of Dowsers will teach you the basic skills. Crack this one and a more advanced course opens the door on Earth energies and environmental healing. It's not just about finding disused wells, you know.
• The British Society of Dowsers (01684 576969, britishdowsers.org) offers a two-day course in Castlemorton, not including accommodation, for £139pp
Halloween Revenge, Hind Hotel, Northamptonshire, 28-30 October
Paranormal investigation weekends don't get much more comprehensive than this. There'll be glass-moving, table-tipping, a clairvoyancy display, vigils with night-vision cameras and laser thermometers, and something called a "vortex ring".
Previous trips have reported a crying child, a poltergeist and ethereal monks. And do keep an eye out for Oliver Cromwell's ghost, which is said to pop into this suitably spooky 17th-century hotel.
• A two-night Halloween Revenge weekend at the Hind Hotel, Wellingborough, with Haunted Weekend (no phone, hauntedweekend.com) costs £155pp half-board based on two sharing (over-18s only)
