Rail services affected by plane crash

National Rail has warned that journey times could be delayed for up to an hour following a light aircraft crash in Staffordshire today.

Routes affected:

London Euston to Crewe via Northampton, Rugby, Rugeley Trent Valley, Stafford, Stoke-on-Trent. Also London Euston to Carlisle via Watford Junction, Milton Keynes ­Central, Rugby, Nuneaton, Rugeley Trent Valley, Stafford & Crewe, ­Holyhead, Manchester Piccadilly, ­Liverpool Lime Street, Preston

Services affected:

London Midland, ­Virgin Trains

London Midland A replacement bus service will run between Rugby and Stafford via ­Rugeley Trent Valley calling at all stations, and between Wolverhampton and Crewe, calling at all stations. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes.

Virgin Trains Services are suspended to and from London Euston. Passengers are advised to use alternative routes, which will be accepting Virgin Trains customers. ­Virgin Trains tickets dated for today will be valid tomorrow.

Ticket acceptance:

Virgin Trains customers will be accepted on the following routes/services:

London and Birmingham/West ­Midlands Passengers may use ­Chiltern Railways, First Great Western and­CrossCountry services.

Sheffield Passengers are advised not to travel via Sheffield as buses will replace trains between Sheffield and Manchester because of engineering work.

London and Scotland Passengers may use National Express East Coast services between London Kings Cross and ­Edinburgh/Glasgow Central.

London Underground Will accept Virgin Trains customers to and from London Euston to connect with other London terminal stations.
