Regional airline Flybe is revamping its services and fares to match more closely its low-cost rivals. It is scrapping business class, introducing a more flexible economy-plus service, and promises to match any lower fares offered by direct competitors.

The new economy-plus tickets will be available on all flights and offer passengers access to airport lounges, free snacks and drinks and frequent-flyer points. These tickets can be changed but not refunded.

All other tickets will be non-refundable with the lowest fares available on the airline's website (flybe.com). Snacks and drinks will be sold on board.

Flybe, formerly known as British European, is offering new flights from Southampton to Murcia, Malaga and Toulouse on May 19.

· Ryanair has reinstated flights to Bergerac, in the Dordogne, one of the 12 axed when the Irish low-cost airline bought rival Buzz. Bergerac is one of seven new Ryanair routes to be launched on May 1 when eight Buzz aircraft join the Ryanair fleet.

Blackpool is to get two flights a day with fares starting at £29.99. The other new European routes are Rodez, in the French Midi-Pyréneés; Gronigen, Holland; Leipzig, Germany; Ostend, Belgium; and Palermo, Italy.
