With warm weather right across Europe, the snow is suffering and it is necessary to stay high to enjoy the best conditions.
In North America, resorts in California, Wyoming and Oregon have all seen big storms recently, and the skiing there is fantastic at the moment.
Austria
Even in Obergurgl (***), which is a much higher than the majority of Austrian resorts, the lower runs are slushy by the end of the day. In Zell am See (**) the slopes are hard in the morning and softening as the day goes on, but they have the enormous advantage that is the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier (****) which has skiing available at over 3,000m.
France
Tignes (***) and Val d'Isère (***) are both offering plenty of good skiing, but the pistes are in need of freshening up with new snow. In most resorts, such as Courchevel (***), La Clusaz (**) and Alpe d'Huez (***), cruising the pistes is great but off-piste is heavy.
Switzerland
Zermatt (***) has some fantastic skiing up on the glacier. In resorts with less scope for high altitude skiing, such as Grindelwald (**), it is possible to have a good day's skiing with a careful selection of pistes.
Italy
Despite the warm weather, the pistes in Madonna (**) are holding up well. The pisteurs there have done an excellent job this season in opening so many runs, but unless it snows the high temperatures will restrict the skiing. The situation in Cortina (**) is the same, where the resort has been able to offer much better skiing than the poor snowfalls warranted.
Andorra
Having had regular snowfalls all season, both Soldeu (***) and Pas de la Casa (***) have great cover on all runs, but they are not escaping the warm weather.
America
The biggest storms in recent days have been in California, Wyoming and Oregon. Respectively, Lake Tahoe (****), Jackson Hole (*****) and Timberline (*****) all have superb conditions. Vail (***) in Colorado is continuing to experience sun and low temperatures, while the east coast resorts such as Killington (**) are experiencing unsettled weather, with a mix of snow and rain.
Canada
Whistler (*****) has had a big snowfall in the last couple of days, and conditions there are now excellent. Low temperatures are ensuring that the snow quality at Banff/Lake Louise (*****) is equally good, with great cover on all trails and wonderful off-piste.
