Holidaymakers planning to fly to Canada this summer should book their flights before the end of today to avoid paying an extra £12 each in airport security tax.
The increased cost of security at Canadian airports following the 11 September terrorist attacks has prompted the introduction of the tax from tomorrow for departures after 1 June.
'The new tax will make a big difference for a family of four who will have to pay nearly an extra £50 for their holiday,' said Anette Rayner, managing director of tailormade specialist Canadian Affair.
Holidaymakers wishing to avoid paying the tax can telephone Canadian Affair (020 7616 9999) between 9am and 6pm today or book via its website until midnight.
Return flights from London Gatwick to Toronto in June start at £289 per person, inclusive of pre-paid taxes.
